Doula Service Packages:

I am currently taking clients with due dates for 2008

"Labor of Love"
Birth Doula Care I: $500.00

This is the most commonly requested package. These services are ideal for the family that has adequate postpartum support for the mother and baby, but need the extra reassurance a birth doula can provide before and during the birth of your baby.
Prenatal Support:  Unlimited phone contact for the entirety of our professional relationship up to 21 days after the baby is born. This will help you form questions for your healthcare provider, calm any anxieties, and suggest ways to keep you comfortable during those last couple weeks of pregnancy and first few weeks postpartum!
2-3 Prenatal Meetings in Your Home or place of your choice:  As your doula, I will visit you to get to know you and to discuss your birth expectations.  If you would like assistance in preparing a "birth plan", I can help.  The first visit is simply a "Get-To-Know-You" meeting and we discuss how we will work together, your expectations and your past experiences.  Feet and Hand massages with some passive care body work is an integral part of the third prenatal visit. This will help alleviate some of the discomfort felt in the last weeks of pregnancy and help the ligaments in the abdomen to release and prepare the way for the baby to make its way properly into the pelvis.
Attend 1 Visit with you to your clinical care provider ( If you wish): As your doula, I would love to meet your clinical care provider and be introduced as a part of your birthing team. I find that it is always helpful to meet and visit with other members of the birthing team as we all work towards your birthing goals.
Rehearsal for Birth:  During your second prenatal visit, I will give you a crash course in childbirth preparation.  (This is not meant to replace a conventional 6-8 week childbirth preparatory series.  I recommend that you attend a childbirth course with your partner, if possible!)  I will concentrate on the signs of labor, stages of labor, comfort measures, possible procedures and interventions, and when to call your clinical care provider and me, your doula.
Continuous, Uninterrupted Labor Support:  Once your labor is established, and you are ready for support, I will be there.  I will meet you at your hospital, birthing center, or home.  I will provide physical, emotional, and informational support to you and your partner during labor and birth, help and advice on comfort measures such as breathing, relaxation, massage and positioning; assistance in gathering information about the course of your labor and your options; continuous emotional reassurance and comfort;  non-pharmacological pain relief measures, and assistance to partners who want to play an active support role help so you have a more satisfactory birth experience as you've defined it. My support and involvement does not end if medical pain relief is implemented. There are still many things that we can do to help relieve some discomfort you may feel and help the baby to get in the right position for birth.
Breastfeeding Support:  If you have chosen to breastfeed your baby, I will assist you in the basics of breastfeeding immediately after birth.  I will stay for about an hour after the birth to make sure you are comfortable and settled. As a lactation specialist, I am on-call for you for breastfeeding support for the first 21 days.
Postpartum Followup:
I will followup with you on a weekly basis for three weeks following the birth of your baby to answer any questions about the birth, breastfeeding, or your postpartum recovery. At or around the three week mark, we will have our final meeting.
Your Baby's Birth Story:  I will provide you with your baby's birth story in hard copy and/or via email, so you can share the blessed event with friends and family.
